  Our first Halloween was amazing

  not sure if this is the right forum, if not i apologize.. last night was our first halloween.

  i have to admit, the very idea that somehow it is satanic and that it makes bible god cry seemed immensely foolish as we prepared for it.

  my daughter was dressed as an undead witch and my son was dressed as thomas the tank engine.

  LisaRose, your husband is so nice, i enjoy people who like to play! Like at the renaissance festivals, grown ups dress in costumes and try to talk Olde English, it is so much fun.

  CandA, how fantastic, we had a 14 year old here who went trick or treating for the first time in her life. She had her first costume, she dressed as Hit Girl from the Kick Ass movie. We fixed up half the garage with candles and little skeletons - one was in an old guitar case like a coffin. We didn't have a lot of kids, i guess the weather was moving in and when i got up this morning it had rained quite a bit.

  We forgot to get a pumpkin, though! Well next year will be even better. We love Halloween!

  Hi Braincleaned, i am enjoying using profanity in my life sometimes, after realizing TTATT - and realizing that I own my life, and I can say whatever I please, whenever I feel like it.

  This morning, a Sunday, I was in the basement when i heard the upstairs doorbell. I went out and raised the garage door, peered out and saw two people who looked just like jw's, a man and a woman. I didn't recognize either one of them. As they began to come down the stairs, the woman said, "Good morning, we're sorry to bother you," and I said good morning - then pushed the garage door button to close it. I went in the house door, slamming it so they could hear that I had gone into the house.

  I've never done that before! It felt great. I thought, by what gall do these assholes show up at my door unannounced on a Sunday morning. Why should I feel as though I'M doing something wrong - THEY are the ones who are out of line. I don't care what they think! I don't have to talk to them just because they show up at my house!!!

  So that's my little progress - I'm coming along.

  I enjoy your posts, seeing how you think about things. I hope you stick around.

  Anyone Celebrating Halloween this Year???

  i started yesterday.

  took the kids (they were both princesses) and my nephew to 3 different events.

  got tons of candy and the kids had a blast.. .

  Decorating the garage, folks can walk up with their kids and choose candy-gift bags. Music, pretty lights, nothing scary. Last year was my first year to give candy at the front door in about 30 years and the little kids were just wonderful, they loved to hear compliments about their costumes. I am hooked on Halloween.

  Irony: JWs who refuse to answer their door on Halloween!

  with halloween fast approaching, it struck me looking back how ironic it was when the worm turned every year on halloween, when jws turn off the porch light, draw the curtains, stumble around in the dark, etc.

  when the worldlies come to knock on their door, lol!.

  on the other hand, i remember the family escaping from the fortress at dusk to go to a movie, bowling, etc.

  Last year we had a ball with the trick or treaters at the door! This year we bought decorations for the garage and big cauldrons for tons of candy! It's gonna be so much fun!!! The kids won't have to climb up the stairs to the front door.

  an average of five kingdom halls being constructed daily, almost 8 million brothers and sisters, dissemination of bible literature in 595 languages, 111,795 congregations worldwide, distribution of 179 million bibles available in 116 languages, 239 countries where jehovah's witnesses have a presence, etc.. need i go on?.

  on the other hand........... crisis of conscience, freeminds, the awaa, jw.net, ummmmmm........hmmm........idk six screens or something?

  Do we need to alert newbies to the search engine on topics , so we dont needlesly rehash topics already covered in depth.?

  i must admit i was slow to wake up to the search button to find out about a subject which may have been thrashed to death years ago.only to try to revitalise it in my ignorance.

  this is not a fault with newbies .bear with me .i am not computer literate .but is it possible or even plausible that newbies are given a basic instruction on how to find information using the search function ?

  surely it could save a lot of needless repetition.just saying.. smiddy.

  Data-Dog - a similar point is in Franz's book ISOCF, where he tells of a GB member who said, If we lower the service hour requirements, what will the brothers do with the extra time - probably just watch more tv. Like HE is the owner of the robots' time. They can't be allowed to choose how to spend their time.

  Well....i quit going to meetings a couple years ago - i can't really pinpoint the very last time I was there, maybe it was the memorial of 2011. Anyway, my tv consumption has decreased to almost nil. I'm too happy to spend time watching tv. And I own my life, YES!

  i thought of the same thing - when people with computers could print out all the scriptures for the WT study and they would have the papers in their hands and be able to read the scriptures instantly. The computer-less could not stand it. So after a great deal of whining and complaining and dirty sideways looks, the elders began to say it just wasn't as spiritual to read a scripture from a paper - it had to be from the bible directly.

  But i thought it was good because they were using a LOT of paper for nothing.
